Project scope

MOTIVATION

The areas of Mediterranean and north Africa are characterized by climate condicions of intense sunshine with simultaneous lack of rainfall. As a result of the above, there is an important reduction of water reserves (drinking and irrigation), and by extension, the restriction of the agricultural activity in these areas.

TARGET

Formation of one innovative unite like greenhouse for water production for agricultural uses with low investment cost and at the same time use the left space for storage or other agricultural uses.

INNOVATION

Development agricultural activity or storage capacity simultaneously production of water for agricultural uses in one undivided area.

IRISS aims at the development and operation of an innovative and sustainable greenhouse type construction that will use its roof for the production of irrigation water – using the solar desalination method – and simultaneous, utilization of the produced water in agricultural activity to be developed inside and outside the ecological space.
